Last class of April

Hi there!!

Yesterday we had another class, the last one of this first month of classes....

First, we started sharing ideas for the Anniversary class (most likely May 27th), which led to a reflection on the current situation of our Institute and our lace in the Institute.

Second, you got in groups depending on your birthdays...

Third, you worked on the questionnaire on chapter 2 on the nature of methods and approaches.

Finally, we discussed the first questions on the questionnaire. Next class we'll finish dealing with it.

For homework you should:

  • re read chapter 2
  • finish the questionnaire (not to hand in, but you must have the answers ready to share in class)
  • read chapter 4
  • get in groups of 4 or 5 students to start working on the activities we'll prepare for the Anniversary class.. And, related to this,
  • do some research on the history of language teaching (read from different sources)
Last but not least,

To start working on...

Hi there, my dear students!!

Today, as I posted two days ago, we have no classes (my daughter is ill). But there is something that you can start working on...

I don't know if you know that this year we'll be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Institute. There will be several activities throughout the year with the aim of having students, teachers and the community participate in the celebration.

The beginning of the cycle of activities will be at the end of May. On Friday 27th May, most likely, we'll participate. Yes! WE: you and I and... Ms Martinez.

To start getting ready, there are two things that you can do: get organized in groups of 5 or 6 and do research on History of Language Teaching  (to go deeper into what we read in chapter1).

Soon I'll tell you more about it!

Yesterday's class and something else....

Hi there!!

Yesterday we had our third class.... again it was rainy, again several people were absent....

We finished dealing with chapter 1, on a brief history of language teaching history. I'm really satisfied with the participation of several students... well done!! And for the shy ones who still don't dare, and the ones who had not read the material.... come on!! You can do it!!

We started dealing with the second chapter, on the nature of approaches and methods. We tried to clarify some concepts, so that for next class you can re read the chapter and understand it in more depth.

We also exchanged some ideas on the the educational system, its origin, its current status and the challenge ahead of us. In that context I mentioned Flavia Terigi's work... here I share some material worth reading and reflecting on...

Second class

Hi there!!

We've just had our second class... first for several of you... Today we dealt with chapter 1 "A brief history of language teaching". We focused on a questionnaire to concentrate on the most important concepts discussed in the chapter.

For next class you have to read (or re read) chapter 1, you have to finish the questionnaire and you have to read chapter 2. Also, you should print questionnaire 2 (check the upper pages in the blog).

Well... that's all for now...

Welcome to the 2016 group!!!

Today, Friday April 1st, we've had our first class. It's a rainy day, so few people were there.... few but wonderful!! Welcome Cinthia, Yamila A., Micaela, Natalia, Valeria, Paola P., Luz, Johana, Matías, Paola T. (Happy birthday!!), Daniel, Yamila S. and Milagros!!!!

Today we carried some "getting to know one another" activities, we discussed some of the goals of the subject, we discussed the conditions to promote without final exam and we started sharing ideas on the history of language teaching.

For next Friday you need to get the material from Milgraff, and you need to read the first chapter. Also, it would be great if you could print (just print, not do)  questionnaire 1 from this blog.

Well, it's been a real pleasure to meet you.... see you again in one week!!!
